Judith "Judy" Ann Sinnott

Sinnott, Judith "Judy" Ann (nee Struharik), passed away, Saturday, April 5, 2025 with grace and strength that defined her life to the very end. Beloved wife of the late John J. Sinnott; devoted mother of Robert B. Sinnott and Diane C. (Tim) Wurdack; cherished grandmother of Sydney, Harrison, Emerson, and Hattie; dear sister of Paul (Judy) Struharik; dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many. Judy was a middle child raised in a classic, loving family, excelling in academics while finding joy in creative pursuits such as baton twirling with the Piasa Indians drill team and even hair modeling. She worked at a bank to put herself through college at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, demonstrating early on the drive and independence that would carry her through life. Her professional career led her to McDonnell Douglas, where she broke glass ceilings with courage and confidence. She rose so high that she became McDonnell Douglas’s chosen nominee in NASA’s early search for a first female astronaut-a remarkable honor that she gracefully declined, preferring to keep her feet planted firmly on Earth. She wed the up-and-coming aeronautical engineer John J. Sinnott on Oct 3, 1970. She later retired to fully dedicate herself to her family, pouring her creativity, wit, and boundless love into the role of wife and mother. Judy was the very definition of a homemaker-not in title alone, but in spirit. She nurtured and supported her family with a unique blend of joy, style, and resourcefulness. She found beauty in the everyday: in gardening, in healthy living, in shopping trips, and most of all, in the success and happiness of those she loved. Life challenged her with profound loss when she was widowed far too soon at age 57. She entered a new chapter as a grandmother and continued to give her love freely, even as she began to face overwhelming health challenges. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Despite countless medical setbacks and conditions that should have defined limits, Judy redefined them. She defied textbook expectations, stunned specialists, and outlived multiple prognoses-not just surviving, but often thriving. Her strength was heroic. Her resilience, inspiring. Her spirit, unbreakable. In the end, Judy left this world just as she lived in it: with poise, grace, and a heart full of love. She leaves behind a legacy of quiet power, deep devotion, and an unshakable bond with those who knew and loved her. She will forever be cherished.
