Linda F. Shibley

Linda passed away peacefully on September 12, 2021, in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 78. She is predeceased by her mother Betty Jane Anderson Short, her father Lieutenant Wayne Chavis, her son Kenneth Shibley, and grandmother Pearl Strahn. She is survived by her daughter Dr. Nofa Jane Shibley and son-in-law Michael Keith Spencer of St. Louis; cousins Bob Hope of Russellville, Arkansas, Kay Robinson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Judge Wayne Shelton of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Dr. Phillip Chavis of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Linda was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on October 8, 1942. After graduating from Ouachita Baptist University she began teaching science and mathematics and taught for 34 years in the Pine Bluff school district. She was passionate with teaching and developed a math program which was implemented throughout the United States. Linda was a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 1984. She was very active with her church in Pine Bluff, Belair Presbyterian Church before moving to St. Louis in 2007. She spent her retirement volunteering at The Church of St. Michael & St. George and with the Missouri Animal Protection Agency. Visitation at 12:00 noon and Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. will be held at The Church of St. Michael & St. George in St. Louis, Missouri on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
