    James "Jim" E. Mitchell

    May 21, 1941 - February 7, 2022

    James “Jim” E. Mitchell, passed away peacefully at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis on February 7 and is now with our Lord. Jim was born in Blount County, Tennessee on May 21, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Ruby Mitchell, brother Douglas “Bob” (Doris) Mitchell, and sisters Janie Bell and Barbara (Dewell) Tipton. He is survived by Anna Raye, his loving wife of 60 years. Jim is the loving father of Monica (Daniel) Rogers, and Matt (Jami) Mitchell. He is the cherished Papaw of Emilee Mitchell, Lucas Rogers and Kali Rogers. He is the brother-in-law of Howard Bell and dear uncle, cousin, and friend of many. Jim graduated from Everett High School in Blount County, Tennessee where Jim and Anna Raye first met. After attending and graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1963, Jim became a Design Electrical Engineer for then McDonell Aircraft, later McDonell Douglas and most recently Boeing. He retired in 2016 after 53 years of service in aeronautics and defensive systems design and development. Jim devoted his life to serving our Lord and Savior. He was dedicated to spreading and teaching the word of God starting at the age of 16 mentoring his first class. He was a deacon and faithful servant at Parkway Baptist Church for over 40 years. Jim was a loving husband, father, and Papaw and servant of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be missed by all who love him. Services: Visitation at Parkway Baptist Church will be held on Monday, February 14, from 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 p.m. A graveside service at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery will be held Tuesday, February 15 at 11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to Parkway Baptist Church, 12465 Olive Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63141 To view James Mitchell’s memorial service, join this Zoom Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84659638559 Arrangements by Ortmann Stipanovich Funeral Home.
