Mary Margaret Myers

At the young age of eighteen, Mary's life would forever be changed one fateful day in 1962 when she walked into a small neighborhood grocery store called "Your Store" and met the love of her life, Richard Myers. She would often say, "I instantly fell in love with him as soon as I saw those beautiful blue eyes." Soon they were inseparable. They were married in 1963, and their devotion to one another served as a shining example to their children and others on what a Christian marriage should be. They adored each other. They were married sixty years and had five children. Their home was filled with activity, laughter, family dance parties, large family gatherings and many holiday celebrations and birthdays. She and Rich enjoyed dancing and were quite good. They treasured dancing to their song "Only You" by the Platters. Mary had a special talent for making a house a home and took pride in decorating each room to perfection. Throughout her life Mary was an exceptional artist that specialized in pencil and charcoal portraits. She especially liked drawing portraits of her family. She loved singing and was a choir member in high school, and various churches throughout her life. Her love of singing came in handy, too. Rich was a Baptist minister for several years, and she was often asked to sing solos. She was also always singing to her children and grandchildren, too. Some of her favorite songs to sing were "Somewhere over the Rainbow," "You are My Sunshine" and almost any hymn. She was very excited to learn that she was formally accepted into the exclusive Daughters of the American Revolution, a lineage-based membership service organization for women who are directly descended from a person involved in the United States' struggle for independence. Because of this membership acceptance, all future female descendants of Mary will be eligible for membership. Mary will be known for her love for her husband and family. She will be forever loved and missed. In honor of her husband's service to the Overland Police Department, the Overland Police Department will be escorting the funeral procession from the funeral home to the Bellerive cemetery. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Chapman; father, Delbert Joseph Hoenig; sister, Patricia Roach; son-in-law, Marcus Lipe; and nephew, Robert 'Bobby' Maessen. Mary is survived by her husband, Richard Harold Myers; five children, Mary Margaret [Kent] Weber; Kathleen Laura [Marcus] Lipe; Richard David [Elizabeth] Myers; Steven Robert [Natalie Smitt] Myers; and Leigh [James] Earley, twelve grandchildren, Brooke [Nikolas] Tannehill; Lyndsey [David] Politte; Samuel [Kristen Gramann] Myers; Amanda [Stephen] Harrell; Madison [Jacob] Tucker, Alexis [Craig] Preuss, Jacob [Kelsey] Myers, Liam [Taylor] Myers, Rosemary Myers, Ryleigh Myers, Holden Myers, Marnie Myers, four step-grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves behind siblings, John [Holly] Hoenig, Cynthia [Robert] Maessen, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall drive, St. Charles. A funeral service will also be held at the Funeral home on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 10:00 am. Mary will be laid to rest at Bellerive Garden Cemetery.
