Mark Alan Kaplan

Mark Kaplan, 68, passed away on June 3, 2026 in Destin, Florida. He is survived by his sons Todd (Donata) Kaplan, Tim (Damian Lafitte) Kaplan, and Tyler Kaplan, his granddaughter Shayla (Cole) Queatham, grandson Carson Whitfield, and soon to be granddaughter, Marcia Lafitte-Kaplan; his siblings, Synthia Brown and Donna Rodgers. For more than 30 years, Mark proudly worked as a member of Local 1 IBEW Electricians Union. He was dedicated to his trade, valued hard work, and built lasting friendships throughout his career. His strong work ethic was matched only by his larger-than-life personality. Mark was a man who never met a stranger. With an ever-present smile and a gift for conversation, he could strike up a friendship anywhere he went. He loved an audience and had a natural ability to make people laugh. His enthusiasm for life was contagious, and his positive spirit brightened every room he entered. Mark lived life to the fullest and embraced every opportunity for adventure. He found great joy in spending time in Destin, where he could be near the water he loved so much. Whether at the beach, on the lake, or out boating, Mark felt most at home surrounded by sunshine and waves. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, cruising in his beloved Corvettes, taking leisurely rides in his Slingshot and his Golf Cart. A talented cook and Pitmaster, Mark was happiest when family and friends gathered around his table. His barbeques were legendary, filled with good food, laughter, and stories. He had a passion for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome. Mark's generous heart was known by all who loved him. He would truly give you the shirt off his back-if he happened to be wearing one. He was always ready to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or share a laugh. His kindness, loyalty, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He also had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, who were always drawn to his gentle nature. Along with his adventurous spirit, Mark was known for his keen sense of fashion and his ability to bring style and confidence to every occasion. Above all, Mark cherished the people in his life. His family and friends were the center of his world, and the memories they shared will remain treasured forever. Though his presence will be deeply missed, Mark's joyful spirit, generous heart, and passion for life will continue to live on in the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.
