Linda Lochhead Oscarson

Linda Lochhead Oscarson, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away in her home in Chesterfield, Missouri, on January 17, 2024. She was born on July 22, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, the second child of Angus Tulloch Lochhead, Jr. and Matilda Evangeline Thurman Lochhead. Linda grew up in University City, Missouri. She loved living near her paternal grandparents and could walk to their home to visit. She enjoyed school and was active in student government. She enjoyed sports of all kinds, and was a member of the Missouri Speed Skating Association. She loved riding her horse, Bonnie Jean. She attended Brigham Young University, and on August 8, 1958 was married to her sweetheart, G. Richard (Dick) Oscarson, whom she had known since childhood, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They made their home in St. Louis and raised a family of six children. Theirs was a lifelong love story. They made a good team and were always sweethearts. In 1975, Dick and Linda were called to preside over 200 of the finest missionaries for the Church in Stockholm, Sweden, moving there with their then five children. Their youngest daughter, Kristina, was born in Sweden. They returned to their home in Chesterfield, Missouri in 1978. Linda was strong, bright, and outgoing. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend and is loved by so many. She was an avid reader, always learning. She loved America and followed politics. For many years she was actively involved in state and local political efforts. She loved literature and music and had a lovely singing voice. She encouraged her children to develop their talents and to appreciate the arts. She was also a hard worker and taught her children to do the same. A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and devoted disciple of Jesus Christ throughout her life, Linda served in many teaching and leadership assignments, including serving with her husband as President and Matron of the St. Louis Temple from 2010-2013. A wonderful mother, Linda loved each of her children and grandchildren dearly. She loved reading stories and singing lullabies, and as her family grew, she enjoyed spending time with each of their families. She will be dearly missed by her posterity and all whose lives she touched. We love you, Mom. Linda is survived by her husband of more than 66 years, G. Richard Oscarson; brother William S. (Pat) Lochhead, sister Karin (Steve) Affleck, brother Robert B. (Klynn) Lochhead; children Becky (Brent) Peterson, Debbie (Matt) Miller, Dan (Stephanie) Oscarson, David (Veronica) Oscarson, Lisa (Kurt) Kluba, and Kristina Rolph; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Lois Lochhead Christiansen. Services: The family will receive friends at Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin MO 63011, on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15081 Clayton Road, Chesterfield, MO 63017, on Saturday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. The interment will follow in Bellerive Gardens Cemetery, Creve Coeur, MO.
