Katherine "Katie" Lorraine Gordon Obituary Katherine ‘Katie’ Lorraine Gordon was born on November 7, 1961, in Sacramento, CA and was adopted by Bob and Doris Niemeyer on December 19, 1961. Growing up in Sacramento, she developed a lifelong love of baking and elementary education as an active participant in 4-H, going on to win awards for her pies at the California State Fair. She attended University of California, Davis, where she met her husband, Eric. They began dating after Eric finally realized she was not interested in his roommate and was actually there to see him. They were married on July 14, 1984. While in California, she pursued her own academic interests while Eric was in medical school, graduating with a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Child Life from Mills College. Katie and Eric relocated several times before ultimately settling in St. Louis, MO in 1993. St. Louis quickly became their home as they developed lifelong friendships and a church community at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church. Katie loved hosting, welcoming friends and family into her home, and raising her 6 children. Katie was an active participant in her community, serving on the board of Providence Classical Christian Academy for many years, homeschooling, and serving church ministries both locally and abroad. After her children were grown, Katie fulfilled a dream of hers to work towards a Master of Divinity at Covenant Seminary. Katie’s unwavering faith was a constant part of her life. Although interrupted by health problems and a cancer diagnosis, she diligently continued on in her studies and was able to graduate with several certificates in 2023. Even after graduation, Katie continued on in her studies and could often be found reading, translating texts from Hebrew and Greek, and surrounded by papers and notes. Katie was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. She passed away peacefully in Visalia, CA on December 13, 2025, surrounded by family. Katie leaves behind her husband, Eric; her six children, Karin, Alex (Megan), Quitta, Jen (Sara), Grace, and Heather; her mother, Doris; and her sister, Pol. A visitation will be held at Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church in Ballwin, Missouri at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 22 followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. A private interment for family will follow.
