Jo Ann Fitterling (Denson) June 22, 1938 - December 10, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jo Ann Fitterling, a woman of resilience, compassion, and unwavering strength. Jo Ann, born on June 22, 1938, in Kennett, MO, departed this world on December 10, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration. Jo Ann embarked on a fulfilling career as a registered nurse after graduating from the Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. For 25 years, she served as a devoted school nurse in the Hazelwood School District, impacting countless lives with her care and dedication. Her professional life was a testament to her nurturing spirit and commitment to the well-being of others. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis six decades ago, Jo Ann faced the challenges of the condition with unparalleled courage, emerging as one of its longest living survivors. Her unwavering spirit inspired all who knew her, proving that love and strength can triumph over adversity. Jo Ann was a loving wife to John Fitterling for over 63 years, and a dedicated mother to her son, Jeff Fitterling, and daughter-in-law, Kim Fitterling (Brown). The joy of her life extended to her granddaughters, Mindy Fitterling (Edgington) and grandson-in-law Octavio Edgington of Nashville, TN, and Kaely Fitterling of Kansas City, MO. Their family bonds were a source of continual happiness and support. For more than 35 years, Jo Ann and John escaped the winter chill by enjoying the warm embrace of Fort Myers, Florida, with family and friends. Jo Ann found joy in the simple pleasures of life. While able, she enjoyed playing golf, boating, and traveling throughout the country in their RV. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and hosting gatherings filled with her best recipes and her fun-loving feisty nature. In honoring Jo Ann's memory, the family requests contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org in lieu of flowers.
