Miller, Jr., Guy Elmer, asleep in Jesus Monday, June 3, 2024, at the age of 92. January 26,1932 - June 3, 2024 Beloved husband of Delores Miller (nee Beckmann); dearest father of Guy III (Nancy) Miller, Denise (late Mark) Kirkpatrick, Douglas (Carol) Miller, and Dawn Miller; grandfather of Dustin Kirkpatrick, Jenna (Seth) Barrow, Jon (Whitney) Miller, Shane Kirkpatrick, Stephanie (Ian) Hoerner, Sean Miller, and Nicole Miller; great-grandfather of Cooper Kirkpatrick, Savannah Barrow, Dylan Kirkpatrick, Henley Miller, Kendall Barrow, Thomas Hoerner, Laynie Miller, Bodie Barrow, and Beckett Hoerner; son of the late Guy Sr and Helen (Melchoir) Miller, brother of the late Paul Miller, and Mary Ann Sutton; dear brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. Born in St. Louis, Guy’s childhood memories are of playing the accordion, shooting marbles, watching the St. Louis Browns play at Sportsman’s Park, and playing stick ball at a neighborhood lot. It was here that he met the love of his life Delores through her late brother Harold and lost interest in stick ball. They were 15 years old when they started dating attending Normandy High School together, married in May 1951 at age 19 and were blessed with 73 wonderful years together. Guy was proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout of BSA Troop 17; and, in serving his country for four years in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. After the Navy, Guy graduated in 1958 from Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in business and was hired by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where his career spanned 33 years in various increasingly important roles leading up to Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Southwestern Bell Corporation. He retired in 1992 at the age of 60. During his career, he was a member of several business organizations and boards including SBC Technology Resources, Inc., AAIM Management Association, The Conference Board - Advisory Council on Human Resource Management, and the Employee Benefit Research Institute in Washington, D.C. where he made recommendations to the U.S. Congress. Additionally, he was active in his Church serving as an Elder and President of the Congregation. After retiring, he served as Chairman of the Board of Managers - Worker Benefit Plans, Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. As a member of Forest Hills Country Club, Guy was an avid golfer playing many famous courses and golf events with Delores. He was gifted in woodworking, enjoyed traveling, skiing and spending time with his family. Services: Visitation at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9733 Olive Blvd, Olivette MO on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Entombment Bellerive Gardens Mausoleum.
