David Leslie Long

David “Dave” Leslie Long, passed away, Friday, September 10, 2021. Beloved husband of Sharon Long; dearest father of Heather (Joe) Knitter and Chad (Ashley) Long; dearest grandfather of Reid, Scott, Lincoln and Pepper; brother of Kathy (David) Hiatt and Rana Adams; brother-in-law of Karen (Steve) Hurd, Jim (Karen) Willa and Chris (Bill) Durkin; loving son of the late Elwin Oliver "Bill" and Sarah Jean Long (nee Edel); son-in-law of Jim and Betty Willa; our dear uncle, cousin and friend of many. Dave enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Hawk CW Radar Engineer in Germany. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter M-14 and Expert M-16. Dave also received a good conduct medal and MM Badge W/MSL Bar. Upon exiting the Army, Dave continued his university studies. Dave graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1975 and a Master of Business Administration in 1976. Dave went on to have a long career in Oil and Gas, Futures, Computer Programming and Service Delivery Management. Dave was a lifetime member of Mensa since 1972 and wore his Mensa T-Shirts every day. Dave was happily married to Sharon Elizabeth for 26 lovely years and enjoyed spending time with family. He was an avid reader of Science, Science Fiction, Mysteries and Auto Biographies. He enjoyed visiting science and art museums and playing Chess. Dave was a wood worker and made many pieces of furniture that will be enjoyed and remembered fondly for many years to come as he made his pieces with care and love. Dave loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Paris and Nevis along with visiting every place in Colorado with his wife Sharon. Dave was a great doggie parent to many precious dogs. He had a very kind soul, quick wit and beautiful smile. Dave would always think of others first and give up his desires to make someone else’s life better. It was always a pleasure to be in his company. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services: Services private.
