Barbara Jeanne Garrett

Barbara Jeanne Garrett (nee Wittich), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20th at the age of 69. Barb was the beloved wife of the late Richard E. Garrett. The loving mother of Crystal (Scott) Shotts and Dustin (Chelsea) Calvird. Step-mother of Marla (Tom) Anderson and Kym Garrett. Grandmother of Ella, Liam and Brigid. She was a wonderful sister to Shirley (Rick) Roberts and the late Robert “Woody” (Lucinda) Wittich. Step-Sister to Jimmy (Mary) Schneider, Karen (Brent) Wedler, Deborah Canchola, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Tim) Miller and the late Sharon Mosley. Barb was the middle child born to Robert “Bob” and Martha “Marsie” Wittich on February 20th, 1953. She graduated from Parkway West High School in 1971 and remained an active member of the Reunion Committee until 2015. She attended college at Southwest Missouri State (now MSU), where she achieved an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development, jumped off the Kimberling City Bridge, was a Sigma Chi Little Sister and fell in love with the Ozark Mountains and the Daredevils. Upon her return to St Louis, she became the Director for the city’s very first Kindercare. She later took up entrepreneurship and started Executive Suite Services, where she met so many friends that became her family. The door to her home was always open to family, friends, and friends of friends. You were always greeted by a dog and the occasional cat. She enjoyed hosting family holidays almost as much as she enjoyed complaining about them. There was always “Party” Chex mix and Peanut Butter Balls at Christmas and “Jungle Brew” for Halloween. If you needed a date for a movie, a concert, or a craft fair you need only to tell her what time to pick you up and then expect her an hour later. She was rumored to be the Aunt you called if you got arrested and she never missed your birthday. Despite experiencing a stroke in 2015, we were blessed with seven additional years of music, laughter, “sass”, the occasional cheating at cards and Candyland and many memories. She was the most loving Mother, Sister, Grammy, Cousin, Aunt and Friend Services: Funeral service at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. Interment Bellerive Gardens.
